@Riot Let's talk about Pantheon!

WARNING: WALLS OF TEXT INCOMING.

As a whole, there is one champion in this game that rustles my jimmies more than anything in this world, Pantheon, now normally i would just go on forums have a big sook and tell you all hes OP and needs a nerf, but I feel he just needs a gameplay update as he is facing an identity crisis, he is obviously designed as a Bruiser or "fighter", yet he plays like an Assassin yet suffers from 2 problems, 1. lack of mobility and 2. short ranges, together they don't match up quite well, therefore, the Pantheon player needs to build tanky in order to survive long enough to unload his full combo, however, he usually doesnt live that long, he can easily kill an ADC due to his monstrous bonus AD ratios, which makes him an absolute monster mid game, but can also fall behind if he feeds, during laning, he can pump out a lot of harass, and he is pretty dominant in blind pick modes where he is up against a squishy melee champion, and if you accidently give him a kill, he will snowball really hard and you are left with only one choice, to farm safely until the jungler arrives, and pray its yours, or wait for him to run out of mana. Now here are a few points about Pantheon that I find troubling:

  1. Point and click Q: incredibly painful to play against, especially if the Pantheon player gets early kills, deals devastating damage which is gated by short ranges and a pretty high mana cost, also benefits from Certain Death, which I am fine with to be honest.

  2. Aegis Protection: Quite a good Passive ability, block auto-attacks and large minion attacks? Pretty underpowered late-game but it is great for the laning phase and helps him soak up a lot of harass.

  3. The Man-Drop: A really bad-ass ability, pretty fun to play with and play against, mechanically, this is in a good place, and i've only listed it here just because 2 isnt a cool number.

Some pretty devious changes I've thought of: Thematically, Pantheon's theme is pretty simple, a badass spartan warrior who leads the charge into battle and kicks ass, its pretty fun to work with and I feel these proposed changes should fix some of Pantheon's current problems while making him a bit less oppressive to play against, I think he should function as a tanky anti-carry, much like Vi or Poppy, okay, not so much Poppy.

Passive: Aegis Protection. Moved to W. Blocks spells now in addition to basic attacks. Refreshed by using Aegis of Zeonia or Grand Skyfall. number of attacks/spells blocked now scales with W's level.

New passive: Certain Death. (Moved from E) Pantheon's basic attacks and Spear Shot critically strike targets below 15% health. Now doesn't benefit from Infinity Edge.

Certain Death is quite a satisfying ability to use and getting that crit is really rewarding, but, the question remains: Why put a guaranteed crit in a skill that doesn't crit? I propose moving the guaranteed crit to his passive, moving Aegis Protection to his W with it's new found ability to block spells, this will hopefully give Pantheon the tankiness he needs to dive that sweet sweet carry.

Q: Spear Shot. 2. Make it a skillshot. Total AD Ratio. Increase range. Grants Movement speed upon successfuly hitting an enemy champion.

This is what I'm leaning towards, the haste helps Pantheon dive that sweet sweet carry and also makes him a tad funner to play against in lane, the increased range won't make him nidalee 2.0, i'm only thinking about 800 range, the total AD ratio will still be pretty high but landing a Spear shot will still give meaningful rewards for landing it.

W. Aegis of Zeonia. Give it an AD ratio. (maybe) Now deals physical damage. Stun time untouched. Shiny new passive that scales with each W level. (thinking of 6/5/4/3/2) Still refreshes Pantheon's Aegis Protection.

I think I've found a way to make Pantheon's W a bit more manly, this will also make level one duels a lot less effective unless the player gets W first, and even then, with the increased counter at early levels its not really recommended, this will make Pantheon a little less apt at soaking up turret shots, early game harass and whatnot. with these changes Pantheon might be more persuaded to take W second over Q.

E. Heartseeker Strike. Total AD ratio. A FIXED TOOLTIP.

This skill is in a decent place and I like what it does, just maybe a total AD ratio and tooltip fix should be fine, I want to know how much damage it does to champions, not minions, still a very fun skill to use.

R. The Mandrop, i mean, Grand Skyfall. 500% Bonus AD ratio. (no, just kidding) Cooldown reduced for each unit hit. (probably not) More manliness. Now refreshes Aegis Protection.

An absurdly fun yet rewarding skill to use, really a core part of Pantheon's kit, and gives Pantheon 2 choices, either dive in like a boss in exchange for a reduced cooldown, or use it to reposition and flank the enemy carry, in exchange for a higher cooldown, I don't know how much manlier a skill could get.

So pls anyone, give thoughts about this little rework and hopefully this dude gets reworked soon.

If it crits, it needs to scale with critical damage, else it should say it deals double damage (and therefore, if you build infinity edge, you could crit+passive for 350% damage).

Don't give Pantheon a spammable free spellshield. Perhaps change it to only block damage of the next ability/autoattack but still get the additional effects. Even then, if he gets it spammable (did you just suggest every two attacks?), it's extremely frustrating for a caster. It's a two second cooldown spellshield.

I'm not sure what you are trying to do with the ultimate except buffing it immensely for ad pantheon, except that pant still needs to be tanky to not get bursted (or just be invulnerable with your suggested spell shield every 2 abilities/attacks).
