Buggy Dark Harvest Interactions
Filthy Ezreal main here, noticed my AP Hybrid build w/ Muramana was doing obscenely more damage than straight AP, so I looked into Dark Harvest mechanics and found out a few interesting things.
Dark Harvest's intended function is to get someone below 50%, a slight delay, then do damage to pop the harvest. With Muramana, any damage that drops them below 50% and triggers the Muramana will instantly trigger Dark Harvest. This is not the case with any other item in the game's instantly added damage such as BoTRK, Sheen and its upgrades, Duskblade, Stormrazor, a direct Luden's/Runic Echoes proc, Hextech Revolver, Shiv, RFC, Kircheis Shard or Elixir of Sorcery's 25 true damage.
Indirect procs on a minion wave of Shiv/Luden/Runic Echoes/IBG will proc. Liandry's, Red buff, Elder Dragon buff, Red Smite, Blue Smite, Ignite and Mark will also proc it, but only after the given delay once they're below 50%. Basically, anything that does damage AFTER said threshold is reached, and they glow red.
Neither the middle nor the walls of Veigar's E will proc the wall, which is odd, considering Ezreal W, which does not even give an assist if that's all that landed, DOES pop Dark Harvest without any need of actually activating the W with a spell or auto attack, despite the tooltip specifying damage needs to be dealt. These two abilities are functionally similar in that they deal no damage, yet one pops Dark Harvest and the other does not. This is a consistency issue in both mechanic and given information.
Not sure if intended, but if your Dark Harvest is ready and you kill someone who is above the threshold before he ever reaches it, you get a stack. No damage is added to the DH damage counter, because it doesn't actually proc. Tested with Ezreal ult on a 2/3 HP Yi, and a Veigar ult on a 100% HP Nidalee bot. Both instances gave stacks without the threshold being met. This brings me to why I decided to make the tests, and why Muramana damage proccing Harvest early is an issue. Ezreal W procs Muramana when popped. I got a W R off on a full health Graves, he died, and my Dark Harvest damage went up from when I had just checked it. This means that the Muramana procced Dark Harvest when it shouldn't have, which is what got me the kill. I would not have been able to kill him otherwise, and the game might not have ended.
Also, while I'm here, Rito please give us the ability to purchase fully stacked tear items in Practice Tool. 10 minutes to stack Muramana/Seraph's to test anything is awful. And nevermind Double Tear testing, I haven't even bothered with that. If that's not possible because you were super lazy and made Practice Tool the exact same as the bots, except with a new UI for "cheats", then just make it so you can buy fully stacked tear items for 100k gold, or add a button on the new UI. Easy peasy.
