Skarner's ult and caitlyn's E?

i was playing caitlyn and this skarner ults me as soon as my E goes off, i got damaged but still got away because his ult didnt register on me even though his ult went on cooldown.

Tl;dr i E'd as cait and skarner ulted me but nothing happened
