FPS Freezes

So recently (for me recent, I just started playing again after a 3 month long break) I've been experiencing these FPS drops so extreme that its just zero fps and it doesn't stop for several seconds. It is frustrating, because it usually happens in lane duels and I play champions that need precise accuracy and quick decisions like . To get to the point, it is possible that it is my pc, but I've never had these issues before. Anyone know how to solve this dilemma?

UPDATE: Putting graphics on low and capping my fps seemed to make the issue less common, but I still have around 3-5 a 'freezes' per game
