This thread is another reminder that we currently don't know if Malzahar's Voidlings are supposed to proc 
's Passive or not.
Currently they Dont.
What's your opinion about it? (This is the 4th week I post about this.. I'm sad)
THey are supposed to according to the description yet it's buged. First i was happy when i read the items, blackcleaver but better. Shame it's not fixed yet.
This question needs to be asked a lot more. It's frustrating not knowing if this is a bug or a design choice. If it is a design choice the wording of the item needs to be changed for the sake of clarity. Keep asking. It's a good question and deserves a red answer. On a side note, do voidlings proc the healing on hextech gunblade? I know that death's dance would be a better option for ad malz if it worked, but I am curious. I have heard answers both ways and have not tested it myself.
