Teammates are getting S ranks but noone is getting a chest?
I just played 3 games and my teammates had gotten a S ranks but noone on our team has gotten a chest. Am i misunderstanding something or is this a bug?

They should remember that there is a montly limit to the number of chests. it should be stated on their profile page how many they can get per month and how many they got since the month started.
I could be wrong, but I heard the limit was 4 chests per month, so after having those, it's no use to try hard anymore for those S ranks unless you want to.
You have to be in a premade with them, not just have them on your team I think.

They have to be premade with you for you to get the chest.

As other have said, you do have to be in a premade party with these players in order to get a chest.
Also, according to this (scroll down until you see the "Crafting Walkthrough" section), you will only get a chest if whoever got an S rank got it for the first time on that champion for that season. This is also said in Riot's official post on this website, that a champion can only earn you 1 chest per season (though that is a kind of confusing).
So even if you or a premade partner gets an S rank in a game, if they have already gotten an S rank on that champion in the past for the current season, then you won't get a chest.
However, I don't know if this counts any S ranks we have acquired before the crafting system was made live, but I can't why it would.
