Control wards not working

Played 2 games in a row just now as blue side kha'zix jungle (not sure if that matters). In both games the enemy control wards did not cancel out our normal wards. They placed their control ward in the same bush as our ward but we still had the vision from the ward without any friendly champion in the bush with it. However, it showed the icon over our ward that usually means that this ward is deactivated. But it obviously wasn't. I saw this in two games in a row. I do not know if the enemy team had the same issue, I asked them but no response. I also don't know if it was a bug with falsely showing that we have vision when in fact we don't. To clarify on that last statement, I don't remember if the ward was still able to actually show us if an enemy champion was there if they walked in the bush.

Will play some more and update this if I find any more info.

Would like to know if anyone else has experience the same issue?
