Autoattack bug

I've been noticing this alot lately, its almost like they secretly changed it to the most damage given gets the kill credit.
It's not a bug. Yi got the range to autoattack and because of the attack animation time, this look a bit weird. If it wasn't like that, it would be impossible to autoattack a champion as a melee champion.
