Gragas W changes his autoattack target

Does anyone else notice that while jungling Gragas will attack the nearest target (frequently a small jungle mob) after using W? You can have the large mob as a target and it will switch to a closer minion after the W. I'm fairly sure that Meteos playing Gragas in game one of the LCS spring semifinals had this happen at around the 15 minute point at the raptor camp, but who actually knows.
