Zyra's plant AI?

So a couple of patches ago, Zyra's plants AI do not attack enemy champions anymore if she doesn't damage or target the enemy champion.

But, every time I grow the plants, even if I haven't damaged the enemy champion yet, directly, the plants would target and hit the enemy champion within their range ONLY ONCE first, then it proceeds to attack the enemy minions until they're dead.

So, how does Zyra's plants work? Is it normal that the plants target and hit enemy champions first then starts attacking minions?

How does Zyra's plant target work now? Because I just played her and the plants still attack the enemy champion even if I haven't damaged them.

However, they do just attack the enemy champion ONLY ONCE, then the plants target minions until the plants die or there's no more minion. If there's no more minions and the plant is alive, then it proceeds to attack enemy champions within range.
