Letter and Number Keys Don't Work When Loaded Into Game

In about every 1 out of 5 matches, I experience this bug. I load in to the game, and when I spawn, none of my hotkeys work. I can hit enter and type in chat, but other than that the letters and number keys won't work. I have made sure all of my hotkeys are binded as well.

I solve it by disconnecting and reconnecting, but that doesn't always work. If it doesn't I have to leave again, close the client, and re-log in.
This usually solves it, but then I am like 5 minutes behind in the game, which could be devastating for junglers and adcs.

This has caused me to lose 2 ranked games and plenty of normal games, and now I fear playing ranked because of this bug.

I read up about it and many people are experiencing it, so it is not only me. I am aware that this bug has been going on unpatched for about 3 years now.

I've still been experiencing the issue for the last 3 years. It seems like every other game I need to dc because my keys refuse to work. Has there been a fix that you guys found?

Happens to me too, usually works after I restart client, but its pretty frustrating while i'm in game and have to manually click the keys ;___;

I have this problem too. but it doesn't always fix it when I close the client and come back in sometimes I have to do several times... Is there really no fix. I have an Asus and is only about 2 years old now.

Have the same problem, I once restarted my client 3 times to finally fix it. Its most likely a software problem linked to certain types of laptops and keyboards. If i try to press hotkeys individually they wont work, but if i mash all of them at the same time one or two go off randomly.

This just happened to me this morning. Probably about 1 in 8 games for me on average. This doesn't seem like a computer problem, rather a game problem, yet there is no way (it seems) to let Riot know I didn't dodge, or leave the game for some silly reason. Literally not the players fault, and it feels like they shouldn't get punished with a loss or a dodge timer or whatever. As a jungler, it is impossible to get back in the game and be effective if you leave, reset, and try again.

I have this same issue. It's not nearly as frequent but it has happened twice now in a span of about 30 games. I load into the game, i can type using all keys. a-z 0-9 etc. I cant however use my abilities unless i click on the picture. There's zero chance of it being a computer issue on my end because this is a brand new computer. it has not been dropped, and doesnt have any viruses. I'm not sure what the problem is but they need to get this fixed.

its a problem that occurred on 3 different computers for me, and they'll still point you to nothing but how to delete certain settings in your files (which fixes it for maybe a couple of weeks)

This bug has something to do with your computer. Short of rewriting the program, there is no fix on Rito's end. The problem is that when you connect to the game, the letter and number portion of your keyboard never connects. Your computer still thinks you are trying to type on the desktop. I don't know what kind of computers specifically have this problem, or if it is only older ones, or if it has something to do with viruses, or if you have dropped your computer, or what. But I usually just play using the arrow keys or the Numpad, as those keys usually still work. You have to not rely on activated items though, and it is a bit difficult.

This started to happen to me just a couple of days ago. I restarted my computer and it worked the first time and then after that it stopped working again. its going on pretty much every game i play now. So i only play bots cuz im afraid of even trying to play people and not be able to use my skills.
