"mute ping" sound setting bugged

I have my ping setting to mute, however, i still hear the pings as if it was full volume. i noticed that trying to change the volume from mute to maximum doesn't change the degree of loudness either. the only thing that truely mute everything is 'mute all sounds', which i dont want to do (even if there is a super annoying laugh spammer blitz/lulu/alistar).

things to note: i uninstalled and reinstalled leauge because of an installation glitch (if you close the client in the middle of a patch, the next time you open up the client, you'll have a never ending patch). so maybe me reinstalling league created this sound setting bug
