Rammus stunned caused lost Rift Herald

Hello, im not sure this is intended, so this is why im writing about it, i was playing , got rift, and while channeling it, a bard appeared and stunned me while in the channel, that caused my rift herald to be lost. I find this somewhat unfair.

Is this a bug or working as intended ?
