League crashing my Radeon HD 6900 GFX Card

Good Morning fellow Summoners,

I am currently in a bind and humbly ask for help to any of those who may know or can direct me to learn more about fixing an issue I am currently having in league of legends. Currently it appears the game is crashing my Radeon HD 6900 video card.

Here are the following symptoms.

• Game crashes and leaves multi-color vertical lines across my monitors – first my main monitor then secondary HDTV/Monitor. Colored lines appear in green, red, blue and purple at times (not sure if this information matters) • Game always crashes under 10 minutes, only twice has it gone almost 20 minutes. Must perform hard reset once crash occurs due to not monitor display not returning to desktop.

I am at my wits end here as to why this is occurring. I am able to run Diablo 3, CS:GO, StarCraft II, Heroes of the Storm, Splinter cell: Blacklist, and Street Fighter IV with no issues at all, so I am lead to believe that the issues is not with my video card.

This is what I have tried…

• I have troubleshooted this issue for several days, I have tested in custom games, 1v1 match-ups, and on various video settings. I have turned v-sync off/on, shadows on various settings (high, medium, low and off) among other settings. I have literally tinkered with all video settings and ran the game in approx 25 various different ways (including running league of legends in admin mode) • Adjusting video card settings in AMD catalyst control center under the gaming tab I have access to the following category settings: Anti-Aliasing, Texture Filtering, Frame Rate Control, and Tessellation. For the most part I have left these on default since i am not completely sure as to what all of these settings actually control. • I have attempted to disable my secondary monitor via catalyst control center to use only my main monitor. In early testing attempts I was convinced that my video card may not have enough resources to run 2 monitors plus league of legends (despite the ability to stream Netflix on one monitor while farming in Diablo 3) however inevitably the client still continues to crash forcing me to conduct a hard reset each time. • I have done a clean install of my operating system (now using windows 10 from 8.1) and League of Legends. I have also updated all windows recommended updates in the process. • I have ran malicious and antivirus scans on my system, no results were found. After the clean install of my OS and League of Legends I am certain there is no issue with this. • I have updated my Radeon HD 6900 GFX card to patch version 15.2 which is the current patch for my card. • I have performed checks of all suggested windows common troubleshooting topics found under Riot games support website. and verified that I have all necessary components such as DirectX, .Net Framework, performed clean windows boot, reset graphics card software, adjusted in-game settings and disabled the debug version of Directx in order to run league of legends efficiently. • I have disabled AMD OverDrive technology and not running any other overclocking software.

I am really unsure what is going on and why this game is the only game not running on the card correctly. I have always had issues with this game crashing and now I am stumped as to how to fix it. In the past the game would just crash and I later discovered it was due to my Logitech mouse .dll file. I have yet to reinstall that software on the fresh install, so going to rule that out for now.

If anyone has had experience or can direct me to resources to help me fix this issue I’ll greatly appreciate it, if you are a technician please review my DXDiag report bellow.

Other people are having the same issues. Someone posted photos on the League People FB group today, not sure if that was you or not.

I do recall about a year ago LoL was having trouble with NVIDIA cards and a lot of people were having FPS issues where the game would cap out at about 15 to 20. This might not be something that you can fix on your end and you might have to wait for Riot to patch it.

I am not to familiar with AMD products, but have you tried going back a driver update? I know with some companies the latest driver update often comes with glitches. I would also submit a ticket to Riots support, and if you can contact AMD I would. Give both companies any tests they need you to run, and hope that they can find the issue.

I will ask a few friends around my work place if they have had or heard any issues with AMD specifically your model when running League.
