No tokens on featured game mode?

I got a rank S- in the featured game mode on Evelynn, who was rank 5. Didn't get a mastery 6 token.

Do you not get tokens in the featured game mode? Sorry if this was already explained. It just feels crappy to be able to get mastery in featured game mode, but not tokens.

If this is intended I'd like it specified somewhere on the client itself, somehow. Perhaps on this little tab?

Yes, it is intended to not be able to get mastery tokens on rotating game modes. You can only get them on normal and ranked SR matches.

Gah, there are so many limitations to the chests and masteries. (not that I am going to pay anyway. Riot does not get my money) It is nerve-wrecking to even try for going one of them.
