I had this problem before. It was when the most recent patch was launched. An updates for Windows also launched. I did the CHKDSK and that fied it last time, but that took forever. this time I also recently updated something on Windows and it's happening again. After I log into the client, I'll have a few seconds before my mouse won't move. Icons for the links on the front page of the log in screen don't display for the most part. The only one that seems to work is the one for the new Bilgewater Event. The one that gets you new icons and tracks your progress.

  1. Update Windows? Maybe?
  2. Launch LoL client.
  3. Log into the LoL client.
  4. Wait
  5. Successfully froze your computer.

I've gotten this every time I logged in, today.

Update: After it shutting down again, i seems the update completed (?) I've been having trouble with updating this laptop for a while now. But this time I didn't get the error message. Now it's working fine. Let's see how long this lasts.

I had the same problem, even went through the trouble of a re install. Then it froze me again... had to force shut down my computer which resulted in the newly installed LoL files corrupt.. creating another bug which results again with me having to reinstall the game.. hours of LoL lost :( Sad Panda right now.

I just looked into uninstalling last updated windows files.. Idk if it's going to work yet but when I saw that you too had a Windows Update prehand I thought to myself that it might be the cause. By chance do you run windows 8? It might of been the new security update that's causing the problem. Now this is all speculation.. once I find out for sure I'll be sure to let you know. But if you want to try it out go to Control Panel > Programs and Features > View installed updates .. and find the one dated for today. Uninstall > Restart > Launch LoL and let me know if it works. It's worth a shot for sure!Ziggs item 3285 summoner 14

To everyone that's having this problem, have you tried CHKDSK? The first time I had this issue, I ran this and it fixed it.

Wait exactly 2 minutes and it will unfreeze.

Apparently the freezing issue is related to a windows 8 security update. I found this elsewhere on the boards, and it worked for me, though it did give me a different issue in the process:

Okay if you are running windows 8 and have the freeze bug.

The latest Windows 8 update is causing the bug.

The solution is simple...

Just go into

Control Panel > Programs and Features > View installed updates

Find the one most recent..

most likely it has "security" in the name.

Uninstall it and run a restart on your computer.

After this your LoL should work just fine.

This worked for me, but now my homepage after logging in makes all the stuff there super large... I won't say the above solution is a permanent fix, but at least I can play again...
