Garen Q and blind

I was playing teemo last game vs a garen and was able to b;ind his Q like normal. As soon as he put a point in his ult though, it would say he got blinded say blind when he attacked with q and showed blind animation but i would still be silenced and take damage. watched buffs too to make sure blind was not falling off prior to Q
