Incorrect Map Load [CRASH] [CLIENT]
I've been playing with a buddy over the last couple days, and I've had some unfortunate glitches with loading the game after a client crash. What happened was that I went through champion select as normal, the game started, and the champion select window disappeared as normal. I have a really junky computer but it usually loads and plays fine. After the "League of Legends" logo appeared to signal the beginning of loading onto the Rift, my screen cuts to black, and after 10-15 seconds all the champion portraits show up, as they would on any other computer. What happened to me was that when the screen cut to black, I clicked somewhere on screen, causing the client to crash (I refer back to the junkiness of my laptop), so then I am taken back to the reconnect screen, and begin to reconnect. When I do that, and the game finally loads, none of the champions or minions appear (this is the bug). I still join the game at the same time as anyone else and have a synchronized game timer, as my friend has attested to, just none of the units appear. I cannot click on the shop to buy any items, and issuing movement commands does nothing. I have not tested if I can still issue pings, and I will update this (with screenshot) if I have time. Once I left the game again and rejoined, everything was working normally (although I missed the first few minutes of the game). Nothing too game-breaking, but it was a little annoying, even though I still managed to win lane on Kog'maw. Step-by-step Instructions to replicate:
- Begin a game, and go through champion select as normal (I doubt this is related to any specific champion, as the first time I was Kog'maw
and the second I was Vi
). - After the champion select screen disappears, wait for the logo to appear and disappear, and the screen to cut to black (you might need a fairly slow computer or else it might load too fast).
- Make the game crash during this black screen. In my case it worked by clicking, but it may be replicated via Alt+f4 or Windows Task Manager or some other way. I don't know if it matters.
- Reconnect to the game after the reconnect screen appears. This should cause the bug as described above to occur once the game loads.
- Exit out of the game and rejoin, and all should be well.
This bug has happened to me twice in the last two or three days. I will play some custom games later tonight to see if I can replicate it more and get some screenshots, at which point I will update this post.
Bug description done, just giving a theory as to why this may have happened to help you guys out :) I'm guessing that the way the reconnect screen was coded, it's designed to take you back into a game that was already started. That means it would receive information from the server regarding unit locations, structure presence/health, global buffs, champion statistics, et cetera. But because I was able to reconnect with the rest of the party before the game had actually started, my computer was told by the server to display the locations of all units and champions at the time I was loading, which at that time, was nothing, as the game had not started yet. So basically, my computer was loading a game that had not started yet, and in which nothing had happened, while the other players loaded a starting game normally. I hope this helps, and I will update this page later tonight, hopefully with screenshot(s) and more explanation!

(P.S. This was done on regular NA game servers, not the PBE) (P.P.S. On a side note, I remember that the tooltip for Fiora's Riposte is a little misleading. In-game, I believe the tooltip says that it blocks all damage from target direction. In actuality, it does not block turret damage. That's what it says on the wiki, but not in-game. I think blocking turret shots could be a neat little boost to Fiora, to improve her diving skills on skilled players, but you also have to put the enemy champion in between yourself and the tower to gain the full effect, which can be quite tricky to do. Adding this to the game would make Fiora players have to decide between blocking a champion skill or auto attack, or stopping a turret shot, unless they are very talented. Just food for thought, but either way the tooltip in-game mentions nothing about turrets. I haven't played Fiora in a couple weeks, so I may be wrong, but I thought I should bring this to your attention.)
