playing support. my spellthief wouldnt evolve (i bought its max stage too) . it was stuck at 499 gold. while the enemy supports was completely fine??? riot youre breaking youre game more and more. so i had 2 wards compared to her 4.. wonderful man :/ i sold it. waste of gold

Top laners (GP/ranged champs like Karma mostly) took it top and got free gold out of it. I've had games where it could take 3+ minutes just to be allowed to earn the tribute again. That passive i quoted from the wiki is removed once it finishes the quest.

Icy Hot Shoto1 votesThe only way that would happen is if he took at least one cs every. single. wave. And I highly doubt he's taking one cs every. single. wave. Especially if he's using spell thief, as he'd be a bit more focused on trying to poke the enemy while keeping his adc alive over trying to help clear the wave.
So unless his adc was dead/afk the entirety of the lane phase, I don't think his item should've never been stuck at 499 gold to the point he was better off selling it than trying to get it to upgrade.
