[Gameplay] Azir's passive on inhibitor/nexus turrets uses regular turret attacks instead of laser.

On Azir, If you use your passive on an inhibitor or nexus turret it is supposed to use all the properties of that turret. But it does not gain the laser attack that the inhib/nexus turrets use.

  1. Create a custom game with a buddy or bots. Let your inhibitor turret be destroyed.
  2. Use your passive on destroyed inhibitor turret.
  3. Observe Sun Disc attacks.

You will see that the Sun Disc attacks like a regular turret instead of a laser. As far as I know, Sun disc inherits all turret passives and acts as a turret at that point of time.

According to everything I've read the Sun Disc "functions as a normal turret, except that it grants Azir gold."

I think this means that regardless of where you summon it, it always acts like an outer turret.

If you read sun disc's first bullet mark it reads "Sun Disc benefits from the same passive effects as the turret it's replacing, including the Reinforced Armor, Penetrating Bullets, Warden's Eye and Fortification passives when applicable. "

Same passive effects. Inhib turrets have the passive of lightning rod, which is not inherited by the sun disc.

it says "including" but it does not say "but not limited to" This suggests that the list of passives the Sun Disc can benefit from is limited to what you see there. Which would mean that it cannot benefit from the Lightning Rod passive.

I'm conjecturing, but I have yet to see strong evidence for either case.
