[Gameplay] Cinderhulk won't turn off

This could just be an oversight and not a bug, but prior to 5.9, Cinderhulk had some quality features to prevent junglers from being punished by their own Cinderhulk aura that seem to have been removed with no patch notes or explanation for why they were removed, so I'm assuming it's a bug.

It no longer is inactive when you are out of combat, which is crucial to many scenarios that junglers face:

  • Invading the brush near the Red Buff camp. With the new cinderhulk, your position is automatically given away by damaging the enemy red camp with the Cinderhulk aura.
  • Running past the Wolf camp/Red Buff camp/Raptor camp leaves many situations where you will agro them for no reason and take damage.
  • Because you will agro them for no reason, this also means that the mobility boots passive will be lost for no reason if you combine the two items.
  • Even running through the river to gank, you will lose the mobility boots passive to the scuttle crab (which can appear from fog of war in some situations) because the Cinderhulk won't turn off.
  • Can't clear wards in the Dragon pit without agroing dragon.
  • Can't clear wards in the Baron pit without agroing Baron.
  • Current Cinderhulk breaks Evelynn's stealth unnecessarily.

Please return it's old functionality so that junglers who invade or buy mobility boots aren't punished for no reason.

We can't even sweep dragon or baron anymore without taking aggro which can put me at a health disadvantage for ganking or I am forced to give up my vision control.

This makes sense and seems like a bug. I'd like to see Viktor and Rumble re-enabled first, but the cinderhulk bug seems kinda silly and should be fixed too.

I was just on blue team, and I exited the blue buff area via the river going towards mid. I had mobility boots + cinderhulk, and the scuttle crab ninja'd me from behind the tiny "pixel brush" above mid, and I had to wait 7 ish seconds before I could gank because of this.

i was having similar issues when i had it on Naut in the jungle. i feel the pain, the burning gives away positions which is why i don't buy sun fire in the jungle, but with cinder hulk bugged its hard to counter jungle.

I also noticed this "bug" with a ranked game I played. I was alt tabbing while in a jungle camp I noticed that I was being attack though I neither hit the camp nor did any of my teammates and items. So yea not sure if this is a bug or just an unannounced feature but I hope that it is reverted back as it did help with counter jungling and making plays.

I think this might have to do with Cinderhulk no longer ramping up in combat.

Before, it made sense from a mechanical standpoint for Cinderhulk to turn off when out of combat so it would ramp up when in combat.

Then when Cinderhulk no longer ramped up, the passive only activating in combat was no longer needed because it's no longer needed to stop the ramping of the damage.

Except junglers still need the in-combat condition of Cinderhulk so we don't aggro neutral monsters when we don't want to.

I think this was more of an oversight than an actual bug though.

Supporting the theory that Cinderhulk not turning off when out of combat now is that there is another bug with Cinderhulk in which its visuals don't turn on anymore. The visual effects were likely tied to the effect turning on when in combat, but since the out-of-combat functionality was turned off, the cases where the visuals would turn on are gone, so the visuals never turn on.

I recall when the original cinderhulk was being developed in the PBE, people were requesting that it have a toggle because of the issues mentioned here. I don't think it has anything to do with it ramping up, because if they wanted they could have just made it start weak and then ramp up. It was off because junglers need it off during many scenarios.

You should add that you can't clear wards in the back of baron pit without taking aggro. And he hurts.

Of course, let's not forget that jungle Evelynn can't remain in stealth during crucial times because of the 100% active cinderhulk.

Cinderhulk was meant to keep you from just pulling every jungle as you pass through, this hurts that and has caused me a number of deaths. As well as inconvenience of it being a bad sunfire cape.
