No Series Helper (s1 --> g5)

I got into gold series before. I lost the series, went on a losing streak, and went back down to silver 2. I recently went on a win streak, and climbed back to gold series today. When i got in, i realized i didn't get a free win from series helper. Is this a bug or intentional?
