Loss of LP for "Dodging" Without getting to even select a champion

I had already submitted this to the support site, got a response saying it was being worked on and was told to make a post here...so...here.

During the champion select screen during a ranked game, I was second pick for top lane on red side. [Ban phase goes through, blue picks first, me and another teammates pick, continue pick phase, you know the drill]

During the pick phase, the enemy team's first pick hovered Swain I believe, but never locked in and eventually timed out, [on my screen at least] and I was sent back to the ranked lobby. this was different than the usual dodge or timeout because I was presented wit ha generic PVP.net server failure message and thought nothing of it. When I tried to queue up again, it told me I was restricted for abandoning a recent match.

I was not a player in control of bans, nor did I even get the opportunity to pick my champion. while I don't mind the five minute wait, I do mind the loss in LP I received thanks to the dodging system. If there was a mistake on my part, [i.e: it WAS my pick} then I'm sorry to waste your time, but I'm nearly certain that's not the case.

I'm not too salty at losing 3 LP or whatever it was, but it is a bit frustrating.
