Back when it just came out we got them almost once a month, progressivly going down to 2 months apart, into once a year? So is it that we dont get what we like or is the que just broken? not complaining but am confused on what the hell

I make that assumption and state it as fact because I've talked to many of my friends (low elo, average LoL players) and they all say the same thing "I like urf to mess around with friends or to play a few games, but it gets old fast". Same thing to some extent with 1FA.
The issue is that with URF and 1FA it rapidly becomes "okay the big youtubers put out videos on which champions are the most broken in the gamemode, now everyone spam them". URF and 1FA might be better with 10 bans, but I'm not sure. Riot tried to improve URF with ARURF but I think they realized that they failed and might be testing out new solutions or are just putting it on the backburner for a long time.

This argument is so old and terrible lol Maybe you and your friends don't like playing them all the time and that's fine. Doesn't mean it needs to be put to once a year while there are still people that enjoy it.
You can see how many people continue to play URF all weekend with the low queue times. It's usually around 10 seconds to pop a game (never seen that popularity with any other RGM) so keep on talking about how unpopular it is among you and your 2 friends.
