While I do not have a screen shot or video of it, I have seen a few Ryze players use Zhonyas during ultimate and still teleporting.... even though it says if you become immobilized, it will stop the ultimate.

Invulnerability is not considered immobile. It is working as intended.

UNIQUE – STASIS: Put yourself in Stasis icon.png stasis for 2.5 seconds, rendering yourself untargetable and invulnerable for the duration, but also unable to move, attack, cast spells, or use items during this time. 120 second cooldown.

From the League of Legends Wiki..... note the "unable to move" part in that, which IS considered immobile.

"unable to cast or move" is not actually a status effect, like root, slow, stun, silence, supression, knockup, suspension, etc., and I beleive that tooltip was just worded as such to make it a short sentence.

That said, there is one other important thing to think about: As it stands, Bard Ult and Hourglass don't stop other effects-in-progress (Swain and Morgana ults as prime examples). The effects of those two do not actually trigger any effect that would normally cancel any other cast-duration effects, so it's completely consistant, and working as intended.

On the otherhand, those are not channels persay, like Nunu's ultimate, Malzahar's ultimate, etc that is canceled by silence effects as well (where the Realm Warp says "Ryze can move around and cast spells during this channel, which can be interupted by both silencing and immobilizing effects.) Morgana's ultimate is not stopped by a silence, neither is Swain's, so those are NOT the same as Ryze's ultimate. Closest comparison to it would be Vi's Q...... where if she is immobilized by morgana, or silenced even for half a second by Blitzcrank, it will cancel her Q.

Zhonya's is an immobilizing and silencing effect or else it would not cancel Nunu's ultimate, it would not cancel Malzahar's ultimate, etc.

The only difference between a stun/root and a stasis, is that in stasis (apart from Tahm Kench), you are untargetable AND invulnerable (again, apart from Tahm who just makes the target untargetable but not invulnerable. Which technically classifies it as an immobility effect because anything that makes you unable to control movements is an immobility effect.
