Graphics Locking Up Mid Game

My graphics are locking up mid game, it appears to be freezing momentarily (usually at key moments), and this is incredibly frustrating. This is not happening in other games, GPU temperature is well below its rated temperature so it isn't a heat issue. Can't think of what this would be, doubt its a network or connection issue. Any ideas? Any suggestions on how to mitigate it?
