Tossed Mid-Leap?

So, I was playing Shyvana earlier, and I got tossed by a Volibear while about a third of the way through the Dragon's Descent flight path. I know she can still be affected by CC mid-flight, but Voli wasn't anywhere close to touching me! This is rather physics-bending. Has anyone else experienced this problem on other jumping champs as well, or is this supposed to happen?
