Please, I just want to be able to set my status to away so I can have league open and talk to friends but not get spammed with game invites, please and thank you.

dude they know that its a problem and they are fixing it, when they fix it they will hotpatch it. just ignore the invites

It's a very low priority client bug. Should get fixed next patch, but there's no reason to hotfix for it.
