Had my first game as him. I realize, the idea is you need to land a Q x3, and then you can tornado DDT (or maybe just shoot a tornado I dunno.) WELL in the entire time of playing the last match, not a single time since gaining it did my ult ever change from grayed out. I know for sure I landed at least a single, if not several tornados on enemy champs.
It only lights up when an enemy is in the air due to an allies/own ability. Just wait for a team member with a knockup to knockup the enemy if you're having trouble hitting yours, also if you find enemies running out of the way too often don't forget you can e then immediatly q to spin, and that works with the knockup after landing 2 hits with q.
