Jayce's auto attack after switching weapons

Hi,

It might just be my eyes but there was one instance when my next auto attack (turning from crossbow to hammer) with the bonus damage yellow lightning, hit an enemy too far?

It may sound picky but blitzcrank (the enemy I killed) was not an melee auto attack distance away from me, yet I managed to o my bonus auto attack at him from like a pinky away.
