ARAM game crashes right before win; no history of game

Just spent 35 minutes in an ARAM game with a buddy where we got their nexus down to about 20%, and the game freezes. All champs stop moving, gold stops increasing, but time continues on. Thinking it's my internet I check speedtest to find out I'm good to go, so I force quit the application and relaunch client where the game asks me to reconnect. I do this and I stare at a black screen for 30 seconds until I get a pop up saying "no connection to the server try again". I can see that my friend is still in the game on my friends list but it is frozen for them as well. Op.gg says I'm in a live game. Eventually the 'game' ends and I can start a new lobby etc, where I check my match history only to see the game never happened? No IP change, no history of the game whatsoever. Did someone just crash the servers or the lobby because they didn't want to lose a freaking ARAM? Or what would have caused this?
