Vel'Koz Ability bug

I've noticed many times in fights that when I hit a full combo animation that if I die as the animation is continuing (for example an E being thrown and the bubble being in motion to land) it will just outright not do any damage and no cc as if I hadn't cast it at all. It is insanely frustrating when there are plenty of other champion abilities that will kill after death while in motion, so it's a bit insane that this happens so consistently. Not so much with q but I notice it with w and e all the time. Seeing a grey screen with my animations going off and nothing happening is pretty disheartening.
