Sorry, two "their" implicitly means either 3 teams, player identification of possessing a team, or two most honorable on the same team. Either one is valid AT THE SAME TIME (notwithstanding the rosters and ties count). In English we call this bad grammar since it leads to incorrect interpretations - just like the forgetting the Oxford comma.
Obviously the correct solution would be to write specific messages for the client side chat - kind of like specific messages. No confusion; no muss.
For example, 2 teams of 50 people each with 50 awards to give out. 49 people on one team get an award, 1 person on the other team. Mention each person on their team got the most awards (49 tie for 1st) and wala! you get people confused.
The principal I employ here is much better than a lazy interpretation.
