Cursor Problems Affecting Gameplay

Every once in a while, seemingly at random, my cursor just begins to jump around and becomes unresponsive to my clicking. It acts as if it stays in one place but shows itself blinking around my screen. My actual game doesn’t lag and actually flows smoothly around me while this happens. Regardless it affects my games and messes me up. Is this just a common problem with the game or is it my actual mouse?
