Dragon did not knock back tristana

I just played a game where a tristana was backing inside dragon pit. I auto attacked the dragon to agro it and when it flew up it did not knock her back and she finished her recall to escape. I don't understand is there an area where you can sit and not get knocked back?

It depends how close she was to completing the recall when it happened.
