Pink Wards are Wrong?

So, I use Gentleman Poro wards. Only other one I own was the S3 reward for my 12 ranked games before I nope'd outta ranked. And yet, when I use the upgraded ward trinket for pink wards, the astronaut poro ward skin is used instead. Pretty sure this is not intended.
