[Gameplay] Sion Q bug

Hello, so I recently discovered this video through reddit and I tried it out myself in poro king. Basically if you hit R in the middle of Sions q and then rehit q, it will spend mana and reset cooldown but you can cast it in a new direction.

How to recreate:

1. Press q
2. Press r in the middle of q (regardless of champion level)
3. Press q again in a new direction.

You can only switch directions once, but it works every single time you use q (atleast for me).

I was wondering if this is actually a bug, and if I can get banned by using it? It can be useful against champions with dashes like lucian or ezreal that dodge to the side of your q, then you can just change the direction and stun them.

I'm scared of actually using it in a proper match as I'm not sure if it would be abusing a bug or not. I would love to know if it is intentional or not.
