Eve hate spikes find hidden champions
Just keep mashing q and even when it's greyed out, it will activate to find hidden champs.
Edit: Downvoting a bug. What has this game come to.

not the only one. morg ult also works like that.
Same thing with most things that auto targets in range / unlocks in proximity (morg ult, katarina ult, fiora q, pretty sure ezreal e does this too - though not as sure).
Some abilities like swain q and shaco's boxes use the abilities own vision so they dont do that.
