Chat is broken..

This is very strange and going to be hard to explain but my chat does not work.. I googled a solution and every thing I have found is about not being able to connect to the chat but I am able to connect I just cant see any messages I send or have been sent to me.. Ill try and explain..

It started when I was talking to someone who was in a game and it was working fine.. Then out of the blue my messages stopped appearing for me but I could hear the noise of him responding.. Also I could not even click another person to message them or close the chat.. I messaged them out of league and they said they were getting my messages.. I restarted my client, didn't fix, I restarted pc and it didn't help. The only thing that helped was I went into another account and the chat was working fine.. then I went back and it fixed but as soon as I messaged that same person it broke again.. Doing the same thing.. 12 hours later I just wake up and its the same. Also I am able to play games and the chat works while I am in game but not outside.. Does any one know how I can fix, I prefer not to reinstall if possible.
