Meaning a lot of people don't ever make it as high as you got placed.

This is the truth. The people who you see stream and put out videos, they talk from their perspective. From the perspective of a Diamond, yeah a Plat might not be that good. Challengers will talk mad shit about Master players. Which sounds ridiculous I know, but people are very immature.
Look at the actual stats. This is numbers. Not an opinion. If you can at least hit Gold V, you are much better than average. And you almost hit that right off the bat. I'm sure you still have stuff to learn, but I wouldn't say you are bad.
Most people don't hit Gold or higher until they've been playing for 2-3 years anyways.
