I propose a new game mode between the lower elo players and high elo.

ZPIN2WIN·5/7/2015, 8:32:06 PM·91 votes·3,981 views

The idea is simple, the mode has 5 players ranging from bronze MMR to gold MMR on one team.

The other team gets 1 plat~challenger player + 4 beginner bots.

For every premade member, the high elo team gets an intermediate bot instead.

Let the games begin. :^)

-_-

Edit: due to popular demand, here is a list of community driven rulings:

  • Towers and split pushing: High elo side gets backdoor plating buff on towers at all times except when the main player is on death timer.

  • Gold bounty: Gold and experience gained from slain bots is reduced dramatically to combat farming abuse.

  • Match making: A plat V high elo player shall not be matched VS players higher than Gold V ranking, that or the system adjusts MMR accordingly to mix in bronze 4 players for example.

  • Winrate expectancy: The game mode should have around 60% winrate in favor of low elo team to encourage teamwork and a threatening challenge for the high elo player --especially for challengers and masters since they have ridiculously long queue times--

  • Gold flow: similar to purple VS blue side adjustment to elo difference, the solo player gets increased gold flow if the enemy MMR is higher than it should be; exact values shall be found via trial and error while observing win-rate trends.

  • Champion select: The mode shall have a blind pick with bans.

-_-

That is all for now~ I wish to see this become a reality. :)

it already exists. it's called normal or ranked on summoners rift. actually you just described every game mode. match making system op.

This would show the lower elos how strong a diamond/challenger is. Skill VS teamwork and number, reminds me of infection game modes.

I like it a lot.

Well, according to GD, 1 plat player would beat a team of 5 golds.

LMFAO I'D DO IT LOL

It would probably be easier for the plat-challenger player to be without bots, unless bots would give 90% reduced gold and experience on death.

Release a new thematic event featuring Mt. Targon / Ionia or something, Wukong, Master Yi, etc. One Diamond / Challenger player with buffs vs. 3 low elo "padawans" trying to defeat the "master"

I feel like i saw this same thread a week ago. My comment was that i would tell [suggest that] my team to repeatedly 5-man gank the human.

Minor Edit above: I used some imprecise language that made me sound like a bully.

I don't want to be mean but... this is a horrible idea.

Likely scenario: team with more real players wins every game. You saw this in Doom Bots even. It doesn't matter how impossible it is for you to beat the enemy in a fight, if you can force them to make bad decisions (lose this tower or that tower).

Likely scenario 2: the guy just shits on a solo or duo lane while the others push to win. One person has a horrible time, most of the other players have no real interaction except him maybe showing up to kill them with all the gold from shitting on the one guy.

Un*likely scenario: the guy actually stomps all of the real players and they get to feel like shit? Wow new game mode so fun it makes people want to uninstall

*I'm silverish if you want to go by my ranked placements and I've beat diamonds in lane without jungler intervention and in games (but then there's a lot more people factoring in on it). The lone player could only win in two ways: his enemies don't know how to buy items, use abilities or what towers do, or he plays someone like Riven/Lee Sin/some ADCs (effectively manaless, good scaling, capable of using either Hydra or Hurricane + lifesteal) and snowballs to the point where he can 2-shot eveyone on their team. I do this to bots regularly when I want my first win of the day in a hurry. Snowballing in this game is out of control, but in the absence of that out of control snowballing there's no way 1 person can lose to 5 people who have the slightest clue.

UPfreely5/8/2015, 5:37:10 AM3 votes

honestly the plat-challenger player would lose every game he didn't roll into a bottom of the barrel full bronze 5 team

Lazy Pet Rock5/8/2015, 2:13:40 PM2 votes

Can't you do this in a custom game if you know the people if those ranks?

Slamurai Jack5/8/2015, 7:58:49 AM2 votes

It would never work. Even Faker would lose to a silver team if he had beginner bots as teammates. Hell, beginner bots are less than worthless. All they would do is feed every one of those silver players full build at 25 minutes. There's a limit to how much you can outplay when there are multiple enemies with several thousand more gold than you.

AbyssionKnight5/8/2015, 8:24:07 AM2 votes

The plat player can't be everywhere at once, and the bots are ridiculously easy to farm up kills on. I'm pretty sure the win rate for the plat player would be lower than 40%.

The Soulforged5/8/2015, 2:42:07 AM2 votes

I'm plat 5 and I will have no chance against 5 gold 5 elo people if I only have 4 beginner bots.

Spacesuit Spiff5/8/2015, 4:33:33 PM1 votes

I was thinking of something similar, except players intentionally get to lane against more/less skilled opponents, so that they can learn stuff from the game.

AsphodelNext5/9/2015, 8:31:25 PM1 votes

Really, you should take out the 4 beginner bots. Nobody wants to play with teammates who constantly feed. Maybe buff the minions and towers or something, make the waves naturally push in the other direction, but people who want to carry feeders can do that in ranked already.

You could give the high elo player a no CD teleport, but only to his own turrets and inhibs. That would basically mean he is playing 3 lanes at the same time, something like simultaneous chess. Push top lane, head bot, get a double, go mid, cs under tower, etc. It also means that his objectives are that much more important: take out one of his towers, and he has to walk from further back in the lane.

I thought you were going to say 3 top tier vs 5 lower tiers. I would like to see that. No one liked my 4 on five idea. Maybe it just wasn't challenging enough.

CoolKnightST5/8/2015, 1:25:45 PM1 votes

why not just make it PvP. Every team get's one high elo player. This player is first pick.

rinsujo5/8/2015, 2:46:05 PM1 votes

Hm. could be fun as a temp game mode....

Needs a catchy name though. Thoughts?
