My Prediction for NURF mode: Permadeath
I think NURF is going to have permanent death. Think about it...
- Here's the NURF tooltip from the PBE:
+100% Mana and Energy consumption +200% Cooldown Inflation on Abilities, Activated Items, and Summoner Spells ... Protection against superfluous decisiveness **This unit is vulnerable to consequences **
Maybe deadly consequences? Also, those last two lines aren't in the official NURF announcement: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/gameplay/unveiling-future-league-legends Maybe they don't want that aspect being made public until it's released.
- The Thoreau quote they chose:
I went to the woods because I wanted to live deliberately. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to put to rout all that was not life and not when I had come to die discover that I had not lived.
It's about death, finality - it's the words of someone who knows they only have one life.
- The opening line of the NURF announcement:
Two rival League teams, not at all the same, in hallowed halls, where we broadcast our stream, from ancient grudge to grand final stage, where first blood makes for broken hearts and crushed dreams.
Maybe first blood is so important because you only have one life...
- With damage and movement speed reduced, games would take an extremely long time to end under normal conditions. If the game ends when all players on one team die, however, games might end up being a normal length.
Who knows; maybe you won't even die just for that game - you'll die for all of NURF mode! Well, until April 1st, that is. This is, of course, just speculation. But maybe that's the real joke for this year's game mode...
