Question on Ranked

Just started doing ranked and placed Silver III. It says W: 5 and G:10. I'm assuming this is Wins 5 and what is G? Gain? Does that mean that if I lose a game I go from 1270 elo to 1250, placing me in Silver V? Not sure how this works exactly so hoping for some clarification. Also says I have 0 LP so I need to win games to earn that?

I know noob question so thanks for any clarification!

Games. Yes, you have to win games to gain LP. Also I think this should probably be in Help & support? I'm not entirely sure because there isn't a newbie's section anymore.
