Important facts about winrate influence in ranked

Hello everyone,

first of i have to excuse for my probably bad english. I´m actually from the EU West Community but usually ask my questions in Na Boards due to the way more answers.

But lets go on with my actual topic: Since the new season I´m very successful in my ranked games: 11 Wins / 14 Games (78% Win Ratio) I really appreciate the LP that i gain for each win but it also made me wonder how it works in detail. So far my average LP per win is about 27. Lost LP about 11 on average.

Another thing that i noticed since season 5: i can hardly remember when i was not first or second pick except for 1 or 2 games.

So this leads me to the questions:

  • How does the win rate exactly influence the LP that i gain/loose?
  • Is the win rate able to influence the rank in the pickorder?

I would appreciate if anyone could help me with this.

people have said rank/mmr no longer affects pick order, but by people I mean random players. I haven't seen anyone from riot confirm or deny it so I can't be sure.

as for LP gain, I believe it's based on how your rank and mmr relate. if you are getting a lot more LP than you lose, i's because you should be higher ranked. If you are winning 78% of your games, it makes sense that you should be placed higher than you currently are

Here's a snippet of me from another season, hope it helps answer your questions. They're not precise since it's TEAM MMR but close enough.

Your win rate increases how much LP you gain/lose by giving you harder and harder matches. If your MMR (matchmaking rating) is higher than your ladder ranking, then you will be playing games against people who's ladder rating is equal to your MMR. The game expects you to lose those games, so if you do lose, you don't lost as much LP; if you win however, you gain significantly more lP.

Win rate has no influence over pick order, a change during the patch 4.x era made pick order entirely random. Each player has a 20% chance to be captain, and others are placed randomly. If duoing, the player who made the duo room has a 40% chance to be captain, and others are placed randomly.
