Game Mode based on skill rather than no skill
Can we get a game mode where player skill is important?
Can we get a game mode where player skill is important?
Short answer : No! Long answer : Fuck No!
I know its a sarcastic question. Skill makes less money than no skill so riot will never make it.
Did you mean: the normal game mode?
All game modes currently take no skill
Oh, ok. I was wondering what that thing was called when I saw Bjergson 1v5 defend his Nexus and get a Pentakill was, or what it was when UoL won the nailbitingly close EULCS semifinal, or what it was when TSM had an amazing comeback teamfight in the first game on the IEM finals. I was pretty sure that was skill, but I guess since I get all my knowledge from you, a random stranger on a message board that is clearly upset by something, and not from instead, say, like Webster's dictionary, I know it actually isn't skill.
And if it isn't, then what the hell is it?
None of that is skill. I know you think it is but lets go over some other examples. When american troops landed on some islands on their way to japan they found native tribes who had not yet been discovered. American troops air lifted supplies to them while they traveled through during the war. After the war the supplies stopped being sent because the troops were gone. The tribes built statues and worshiped us like gods. As good as the american military is they are not in fact gods. This brings us to your example. You mistake what happens in league for skill because you have never seen skill before and it is a completely foreign concept to you. The same as had you not seen yellow you would not know the sun at our distance from it appears to be said color.
What we have in league of legends (LOL for short because it is a joke) are called mechanics. Now mechanics are the foundation of skill they are not in and of themselves skill. Another example you can see is that the unskilled masses (see that word un"skilled") work jobs based on mechanics because everyone in the world has mechanics. Walking takes mechanics it is not a skill. Breathing takes mechanics it is also not a skill. You are able to achieve higher levels in these processes by refining your mechanics in them but they remain simply mechanics. Take a look at a popular sport Football (The american one) every quarter back in the game has the same mechanics yet they all have completely different skill levels.
I'm not going to explain the dynamics of modern game development to you because I have spent years doing it and I have only realize that modern gamers don't want to learn. Or maybe they already know but don't want to admit it. These games take no skill. They just tell you they do to validate you for winning and that in turn causes you to invest more into the game. Which leads you to believe the game is good because you would never spend so much time on a bad game so this one must be good because your playing it. That is the TLDR of it. Eventually I will post my research on it and force companies to make better games by making it impossible for players to not know they are playing a game of no skill and breaking that psychological loophole they use.
No please, enlighten me as to what skill really is, as of course you have spent years studying modern game development.
Mechanics are skill. The difference in skill level is the difficulty and extensiveness of the mechanics. You said that walking takes mechanics, not skill. But would you regard Olympic level track athletes as unskilled? They use the same exact mechanics as walking, but the skill is then in knowing how to take advantage of those same mechanics.
Read paragraph four if you don't want to be educated and just want a quick response. Five is also not bad if you just want to think about this thing you blindly called skill.

I know RIOT will get mad at this paragraph as they too like to remain ignorant. But you must open your mind to reality just because somebody calls something something doesn't make it so. Take for example the typical accepted use of the word professional, you would commonly associate that with someone being good at something. Yet if you do your own research you can find it has also come to be defined as someone who is simply making a living doing what others consider to be a hobby. You can see things like womens professional soccer where they are clearly not good at the game they are paid to play and wonder? Are they skilled? Well truth be told in relativity and certain contexts they are. But as a generality no they are not. The same is true for male teams (So RIOT doesn't slander me again by saying im sexist when I am not) The bottom tier male teams in soccer like the MLS are a joke. They are better than I am because I don't play but they could hardly be called skilled when compared to the real teams in higher leagues.
The other thing you have to consider is what is skill in league? Is it last hitting? Is it decision making? Is it teamwork? Is it champ selection? Is it probability? If I ADC and duel another ADC and we both have IE is he better than me for critting more? When Leblanc deletes you in a single combo are you bad? He pressed 4 buttons and killed you with no counter play so that means he is good and you are bad? When 6 item Vayne right clicks and you die is it because he has clearly mastered the champion? When Lulu doesn't die to zed ult is it because Lulu is a challenger player and zed is bronze but somehow they are in the same ranked game? There are no elements in league which can ever be played off as skill. Is every Master Yi good at the game? Is every Quinn better than every Master Yi player?
