Permanent Homeguards you say? (New Game Mode Idea)

Well, the Manatee has returned home. In his wake, he left some players hating or loving the URF mode, players wandering about the next game mode, and Riot hiring people to blow on their servers to keep all the steam from URF down. Either way, we're all winding down from April 1st.

That doesn't happen too quickly though.

So, I wanted to introduce a CTF (Capture The Flag) game mode, played with permanent Homeguards on Crystal Scar. This meaning, your Homeguards do not fade away after a certain time-span.

The game mode would be Blind Draft, similar to URF and Crystal Scar would be altered similarly to when it was being played for Acension. I'm aiming for this mode to bring quick fun to games, as we all want to dive into the action as quickly as possible, right? Therefore;

Global Buffs:

  • Respawn Timers removed.
  • All players start with 10,000 gold.
  • Each player starts at level 6, and gains experience/gold over time. Similar to Ancension/Aram.
  • Each player has a buff called "Still Kicking", granting them permanent Homeguard speed boost, and 20% CDR.

Not really a Buff:

  • Boots of all varieties are Disabled.
  • summoner 6andsummoner 12 are disabled.
  • Killing an enemy champion gives no, or largely reduced gold.

This seems pretty insane, I'll agree. Of course though, we can't have our flag carriers running at maximum speed.

Flag Carrier Changes: Sometimes, I think this flag just weighs me down;

  • Movement speed capped at 350. This way we don't have champions dominating with and without the flag. (Rammus/Hecarim)
  • True-vision of this champion is given to the enemy team. (Hi EvelynnandTwitch )
  • Armor and Magic Resist increased by 25(?).
  • This unit receives only 50% power from heals and shields.
  • Once this unit is killed, the flag will reset to it's original position.

The flag can not be dropped once acquired. Choose your carrier wisely.

To win, one team must capture the enemy team's flag five times, and may not capture if their flag is not home. I had more to go on than this, excuse me, but I hope this gets my idea pretty clearly across.

Possible extras:

  • Could be played on Twisted Treeline instead, Or even Summoner's Rift.
  • Could make a summoner spell that allows the player to teleport to an ally.
  • When two Homeguard champions collide, the results could be Cataclysmic. JarvanIV (Cooldown of 30(?) seconds)

I thought about the Cataclysm Collision in a curious manner, I mean. It's rare for both sides to have Homeguards in an engagement; what would happen?

Adding Strong Picks Soon: LuxLissandraAhriJarvanIVHeimerdingerRekSai

Lissandra :: Lissandra

Due to Lissandra having a "dash" and many, many slows in her kit; she would be a very strong pick. Either, protecting herself with her ult as the carrier and then using Glacial Path to get away and capture, or to hold down the enemy carrier. Her ult coupled with the ability to slow/root all those pesky homeguards makes Lissandra an obvious choice.

Lux :: Lux

Would love to hear comments on this idea, criticism or nay. Thanks for reading.

I'd like it on Twisted Treeline, maybe with the flags replacing the shrines for their respective teams/sides?

Or possibly where the Nexuses currently are, just with a pathway in from the jungle.

I think moving it to TT would be better personally, since there would be more distinct "sides" for each team. They would just disable the towers and then have the flags be at the current nexus locations.

I like the idea of causing champs who collide to create a cataclysm terrain ring, but it would have to be connected to one of the champions auto attacking the other champion, or else there would be no way to directly count their collision.

Would MS multipliers work on champions still? like Rammus' powerball?

Would there be minions or neutral camps or would gold just come from getting the flag (like +500 every flag scored) or only from getting kills and assists? Or would all of it just come from the accelerated gold gain.

The only problem I see with capping movespeed for the carrier is the fact that a team of Hecarim Rammus Nocturne would never be capped against- they'd all be able to get to the enemy relatively instantly due to High movespeed (Noct has to wait for later, but he'll be nigh-unkillable and sticky as hell by then).

Wouldn't champs with traps such as Teemo dominate with the defense? He could shroom around the flag can't he?

Also I love this idea. I wish to see this implemented next year.

I would be in favor of a capture the flag mode but I have never seen a ctf with only one lane. Seems like it would be better suited for tug o war or push pull maps.
