Map Editor

League stems from DOTA, which was created using a customized game on Warcraft III.

Currently, our custom games are relatively boring. Passworded games, limited special theme games, and games for groups of more than 5 are pretty much the only thing that we have.

We do not have the ability to truly customize a custom game.

Give us a map editor. Let us pick one of the preset maps and allow us to change champions and units to our specifications. A team of 5 Ashe's vs 1 super-powered Lissandra? Done. 5 Lux's vs 5 Garen's in the ultimate sibling rivalry? Done. URF buffs on Howling Abyss with only Zileans? Done.

Just as with Warcraft III, Starcraft I and II, and other RTS games that have implemented these customized maps, there is the potential for trolls and just poor games. But that doesn't matter. Generally, the good outweighs the bad and people begin to look for a certain type of game.

I have to admit that on Warcraft III or Starcraft I and II, I rarely ever played traditional melee. I played Hero Siege. Life of a Peasant. Kerrigan's Demise. Random customized games made through the map editor. I wouldn't play those games as often as I did without the custom/use map settings games that I loved. A map editor and the resulting customized game menu would allow for players who aren't a fan of the League playstyle to maybe try something different. Something new.

And there will always be the question of 'Hey. If you have a required champion on this team, how would that work?' Simple. If you don't have the champion required for that map mode, you can't play it. And if you have a champion skin, regardless of the mode, it is applied. This still promotes the free-to-play model that Riot has going, while also supporting the purchase of new champions and skins. It does not detract from the goals of League.

League has such potential for this type of thing. Look at what has already been released. URF, Hexakill, Doom Bots... Imagine what else we could come up with, with some of the great minds in this game's community.

Customized games gave birth to League. It's time to give back.
