So, pretty much everyone already knows Ranked Team Builder is going to come sooner or later, but when? Do you think we'll be seeing it next season, or Season 7, or maybe Season 8? It seems pretty cool and I am hoping it comes as soon as possible :D Even a simple "we cannot share that information right now" would be satisfying to have.

We’ve been working on some improvements to competitive system that we want to roll out for the 2016 season. Front and center to these changes, however, is getting all of ranked play onto the teambuilder mode. You’ll be able to pick 2 positions - including ‘fill’ - to ensure you’re playing in the position you can contribute the most in. ‘Feed’ will probably not be an option, (sorry!).
So the answer to your question is next season!
And based on the brief description, it sounds like you'll queue for a role (or two roles), rather than a specific champion. Presumably, once you have a team with players assigned to the individual roles, you'll still have a pick/ban phase just like today. Of course, more details will probably surface as the next season nears.

Zielmann5 votesBased on the info they've provided about how they'll be implementing teambuilder-style queuing for ranked next season, plus using a little common sense, these should be non-issues.
You'll be queuing for a certain role, not specific champion. It'd be safe to assume that since it's a ranked queue, you'd still go through a ban and pick phase just like today. Only thing will be that players will be assigned a role from the start, instead of having to argue over it in team chat.

Zielmann4 votesProbably not going to work that way. They'll match players up by role (not role + champion). Then you'd have a normal ban/pick phase like ranked has now. Only real difference would be that players would be going in assigned to a role (that they selected to queue for), so you don't have to argue over that in team chat.

Zielmann1 votesI'm excited about how it sounds it'll work, even with the little bit of info we have from Riot so far on it. I've basically been a support main since... season 2? It was pretty much all I played for a long time, because I had a group of 5 regulars that would play together, and I always played support with them.
Admittedly, it would be a bit of a crutch, allowing me to play mostly support, while letting me avoid especially top and jungle (which I generally hate playing). I'll probably queue with mid or ADC as my backup role, but hopefully be able to play support a majority of the time.
