New Game Mode: Infection

Game Mode: 5v5. One team is "Infected", One team is "Safe" (What's a word for it?). Killing someone brings them to your team. Teams cannot "b" to go back and shop.

Respawning: It should be exactly like Ascension, lots of strategy can be used to trap a opponent and also you don't have the entire other team sitting for you as you Teleport down.

Winning: Whichever team converts the entire other team wins.

Map: Abandoned village theme with lots of different paths to maneuver around the houses. Four-sided map with a Spawn Point on each corner (2 for Infected, 2 for Uninfected .. duh).

Maybe(s):

  • Infected team gets "zombie" (Or whatever) spawns that walk around the map. Killing zombies provide gold and exp to the other team. Zombies' attacks apply a stack of "Infection". +10 stacks max. Each stack applies: a higher % of grevious wounds and slow. Infected team cannot kill the zombies.

would that not immediately shift the balance of the game in favor of whichever team gets the first kill? Once the guy respawns, assuming no further kills have been scored, is it not 6v4 now?

What if, instead, you ran it more like the original infection game type (from shooters):

One person is infected, everyone else is ffa or unable to attack one another.

The infected team has minions that roam the map (could be super minions).

There is no going back once you're infected, you can only be infected by being killed by an infected champ or minion.

Put a time limit on the game.

Last person not infected "wins" meaning this would have to be a first-of-its-kind ffa game mode.

If everyone is infected before the time limit is reached, then the original infected champ wins.

Teemo is disabled as hiding and killing the game timer is a legit way to win.

I might add that leveling doesn't seem like it would really be a fair mechanic in a game like this so perhaps make all champs level 18 with infinite money at start of game so people clash at full build.

That was why I thought the minions would be a good idea. In shooters, it's rough at the beginning for the solo infected. He runs into groups of enemies and everyone is about the same power level so he gets his face owned. Eventually he finds one alone, or sneaks up on the group and takes his first victim, increasing his number while reducing theirs. Suddenly the balance is shifted and continues to shift in the favor of the infected throughout the game until the end. Having the minions, especially super minions would allow him to get some damage on the non-infected champs and provide a distraction allowing him to jump them and score a kill.

that's why I proposed to remove snowballing and feeding from the game type by making everyone max level with the ability to build a full item set at the beginning. I'm not sure there would be a way to attach IP or experience to a game mode like this. you can make it so the two teams are infected vs uninfected, you run into the problem that at the end of a game you will have more of one than the other, so in most cases, you will have a majority of players getting more rewards than the other side. or if two people remain uninfected at the end, then two people get bigger rewards than the other eight.
