How does this ranked league and placement stuff work?

Im about to hit 30 and I have no idea how ranked works. do you have to go through bronze to be silver? I mean like it says play 10 games to be placed in a league, so if I do well will I still have to go through bronze? help plz @_@

Step 1: Play ten ranked games. These are your placement matches. Step 2: It probably puts you somewhere between Bronze 5 and Silver 1. Step 3: Win games to get LP, lose games to lose LP.

Reach 100 LP to get into promos. Win enough of your promos to advance. Reach 0 LP and lose enough games to drop a level.
